There’s no fixed itinerary. People set up their drones, get some flying in and spend time talking. Different types of drones turn up, so you can take a look at what other people fly and ask them about their equipment.
There are often tents and booths set up, with people gathering in the shade between flights. The setup varies from one meetup to the next, and flying depends on the location and conditions that day.
Your first meetup
Come on your own or bring a friend. You don’t need to know anyone beforehand, and it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in the Facebook group.
Say hello when you arrive. You can watch and ask questions without bringing any equipment. If you’re thinking about buying your first drone, it’s a chance to see a few different ones in person and hear from the people who fly them.
Before you head out
If you plan to fly, bring your drone, controller and charged batteries. Pack water, a snack, a hat and sunscreen, too. Water and snacks may be available, but it’s best to bring your own.
A folding chair can be useful if you plan to stay a while. Check the meetup post for any parking or access details before you leave.
